At Adaptive Live, Get on the Fast Track to Active Planning

There’s nearly no limit to what you can learn to get better at your job at Adaptive Live 2017, which kicks off Tuesday, May 30, in San Francisco and runs through Friday, June 2.

This global gathering of finance professionals is always a hotbed of innovative ideas and FP&A best practices. This year that’s especially true, as Adaptive Live will offer a roadmap to planning that’s collaborative, comprehensive, and continuous. A roadmap to active planning.

A new series of active planning conference tracks features how-tos and feedback sessions organized around the three stages on the active planning journey: Modernize Planning, Optimize Planning, and Active Planning.

Today let’s look at what you’ll learn in the Modernize Planning track. These 16 sessions are ideal if you’re just starting out or are still immersed in the implementation stages of your Adaptive Suite solutions.

Implementation boot camp. “Getting Ready for Your Adaptive Suite Implementation” (TM22) is the perfect session for those still in the early stages of a rollout. You’ll hear best practices for preparing for your implementation, including how to translate your organizational structure, charts of accounts, and reporting requirements into an Adaptive Suite configuration.

Three statements, one session. Attend session TM02 to get the skinny on extending your existing Adaptive Insights planning model to build balance sheet, cash flow, and forecast reports. You’ll learn how linking models with these three key statements can help you simulate the impact of business decisions on key financial metrics, ratios, cash position, and more. Streamlined reporting to stakeholders? That’s covered too.

Budget cycle prep, part one. In this first half of a two-part session, “Getting Ready for Your Next Budget Cycle” (TM16), you’ll discover the best ways to prepare your Adaptive Insights model for an upcoming budget or forecast cycle. Learn the latest tips on updating your structure and training materials, and explore how the Process Tracker can help you make life easier for budget owners.

It’s about time. The Adaptive Suite’s spring 2017 release incorporates a new configurable custom calendar with the flexibility to accommodate your specific business processes. In session TM03, learn the basics of calendar management, typical use cases, and how to avoid common pitfalls.

Go multidimensional. When budgets have more detail and flexibility, everybody wins. “Implementing Multidimensional Planning and Analysis” (TM14) offers crucial insights into using dimensions for planning and reporting by adding segments such as products or customers. You’ll also learn how to use attributes to group and identify your elements in ways that help you get more from plans and analyses.

Help shape our future releases! Two different “Future Features & Feedback” sessions allow you to weigh in on new features or helpful tweaks to existing capabilities you’d like to see appear in future releases. You’ll have direct access to the people responsible for determining what’s next for the Adaptive Suite. If your input involves planning modeling and sheet design, administration, and integration, then head to session RP03. Or attend session RP02 to share your thoughts on reporting, analytics, and workflow features. In both sessions, you’ll also be asked for your opinion about some upcoming features already in development.
