The best things happen unexpectedly. That saying couldn’t be more true today, as we announced a definitive agreement with Workday, Inc. to be acquired. While this wasn’t quite the way we imagined we would become a public company, I truly couldn’t be more thrilled for our customers, our employees, and our partners.
We have been a Workday certified partner since 2015. And in that time, we’ve come to appreciate the numerous parallel characteristics of our two companies. Our core company values are well aligned in terms of strong employee- and customer-centric cultures and we both have a commitment to delivering easy-to-use applications that delight our customers.
We also share a mission to accelerate finance and business transformation in the cloud. For Workday, the digital transformation continues for their customers by adding a robust business and financial planning capability to their portfolio. For Adaptive Insights, Workday’s core applications for finance and HR are perfect complements to our Business Planning Cloud solutions.
Together, two cloud leaders will combine as one to enable customers to better plan, execute, and analyze their businesses through a portfolio of best-in-class applications. Integration between our applications already exists and will only get deeper over time. And we will continue to provide the same strong integration to other systems that we have always provided, giving our customers freedom of choice while simultaneously offering a complete portfolio of leading cloud applications.
Did I envision an acquisition when I founded the company back in 2003? Not necessarily. But I did envision a cloud platform that would free people to do their best work, starting with finance and incorporating everybody who plans across the business. As important, I envisioned a workplace that I wanted to be a part of, as much as a place for our employees that’s collaborative, fun, and rewarding on multiple levels.
As part of Workday, we’re better positioned than ever to deliver on this vision for customers and employees. We can bring our solutions to global markets through a larger brand, an expanded sales force, and as part of a more expansive complement of product offerings. Our joint focus on easy to use software ensures that we will continue to build software that delights customers. And I’m thrilled that as a Fortune Best Places to Work, Workday shares our employee values. This will allow us to continue to attract top talent as we continue our mission to deliver the best cloud planning platform.
We also gain an expanded partner network, adding to the many partners that already offer our solutions jointly and bringing our Business Planning Cloud to new geographies and industries.
I am so proud of what the team at Adaptive Insights has accomplished to date and the recognition signified by this acquisition. And while today’s news may be unexpected, I couldn’t be more excited for the possibilities ahead as a part of the wonderful world of Workday!
