Three Things To Do When Purchasing CPM & BI Software

Adaptive Planning Corporate Performance Management (CPM) and Business Intelligence (BI) Technology Investment Adaptive Planning Customer SuccessWhile investing in CPM & BI software, or in any new technology, is a major decision for any company to make, the process can be very straightforward and efficient if managed correctly. Adaptive is here to start you on the right path.

Below are three things you can do to make the CPM & BI purchasing decision a lot easier. They’re the most likely to lead you to a smart technology investment that will help you run an overall more efficient business. So if you can only remember three points, remember these.

1.       Ask the right questions.

Don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions.

Example: Do you offer a full-feature product trial?”

Question early and often.

“How long will implementation take?”

“Do you have a suite that includes integrated visual analytics?”

“What are some potential risks during the implementation process, and how will you help me to resolve any potential issues?”

“Can you show me any customer satisfaction data?”

Think about your personal relationships. The more you ask, the more you learn about the person and can form an accurate opinion of them. The same holds true for technology vendors. So keep the questions coming. You never know what you might uncover.

2.       Read as many customer reviews as you can.

There’s no stronger endorsement of a product than a customer review. So get your hands on customer success stories and customer success videos. Read third-party sources like technology magazines, industry forums, or any other place where customers speak openly about their experiences. Yes, reviews from industry experts are also valuable. But customer reviews give you a glimpse into your potential future.

Also, pay attention to the types of customers a technology vendor has. Are any customers in your industry? Do some of the most successful, fast-growing companies use this solution? Associate your company with a customer base that either holds your same attributes, or attributes you’re striving for. If a technology vendor doesn’t have customer success stories, it’s time to take your investment elsewhere.

3.       Partner with Best in Class VARs, MSPs

Some partners are best in class for a reason. The top resellers and service providers are most likely to be unbiased and more focused on finding the right solution for you. Starting your search by finding high-quality resellers and partners isn’t a bad idea either. The best businesses will likely lead you to the best solutions.
